Nokia promises better representation through scholarships
Nokia makes grant pledges to better represent underrepresented communities in technology
- Nokia works with the online learning platform Udacity and the Blacks In Technology Foundation.
- Over 300 scholarship offers for Nanodegree programs that are completely online and can be completed alongside studies or part-time.
- The programs cover a wide range of technological core competencies, from cloud computing and programming to artificial intelligence and data science, available from elementary to advanced level.

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced the launch of a scholarship program aimed at providing better opportunities for underrepresented communities in the technology industry. In collaboration with the online learning and talent transformation platform Udacity and the Blacks In Technology (BIT) Foundation, Nokia will award over 300 scholarships, with a focus on promoting students and career changers from under-represented communities.
The fully funded scholarships cover a range of core technical competencies, from cloud computing and programming to artificial intelligence and data science, and are available for beginners to advanced learners. Successful candidates can choose courses on topics such as AI Programming with Python, Java Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Intermediate Python, and Cloud DevOps Engineering.
The courses are offered by Udacity, whose Nanodegree® programs are completely online and can be completed alongside studies or part-time, so that they are accessible to everyone regardless of position or profession. The scholarships are open to applicants from around the world, both undergraduate students and industry professionals who wish to develop their technological skills.
Scholars also have access to support and networks provided by the BIT Foundation, including mentoring, tutoring, and resources to support post-graduate careers. Nokia will also work closely with its African American employee resource group ABLE (Advancing Black Leadership and Excellence) to further advance the initiative.

Various companies have a proven record of doing better and we intend to encourage students who successfully complete any of the programs to apply for positions at Nokia. “
