AFA announces the National Teacher of the Year 2021
Arlington, Virginia (July 19, 2021) – The Air Force Association is proud to announce that Megan Tucker of Lovettsville, Virginia has been named AFA National Teacher of the Year 2021 by Rolls-Royce. The program recognizes classroom teachers for their accomplishments and achievement among exciting K-12 students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and prepares students to use and contribute to tomorrow’s technologies.
A 17 year veteran of teaching, Tucker has served as a STEAM Specialist (K-5) / Instructional Facilitator of Technology (K-5 and Professional Development) / Gifted Teacher (K-5 and Professional Development) / Intervention Coordinator, and for the past five years STEAM Curriculum Consultant at Hillsboro Charter Academy, Hillsboro, Virginia.

AFA Gabriel Chapter # 433 nominated Chapter President Mike Winters met Ms. Tucker when she invited him to attend a flight funday.
“I’ve participated in many programs aimed at creating a passion for the STEM areas,” said Winters. “None of this could match Megan’s infectious enthusiasm that spread throughout the school! All the more impressive that she can bring this enthusiasm into elementary school. The Air Force Association is blessed to have an instructor who is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of aviation through a school-wide elementary STEM program. It has a really positive influence on the future of Air & Space Power in the earliest learning phase. “
Ms. Tucker completed her Bachelor in Elementary Education and her Master in Science Education.
